This website is maintained by a group of dealers at Wynn Las Vegas. Its purpose is to keep tipped employees informed about the progress of the tip-pooling issues at Wynn Las Vegas.
In August 2006, Steve Wynn announced he was going to seize control of dealers' tips and redistribute some of the money to management. Managers do not traditionally contribute to the tip pool and, therefore, we dealers believe they should not be allowed to withdraw from the tip pool. Wynn Las Vegas pays management over five times more than dealers. Dealers earn a living from customers' tips. If Wynn wants to give managers a raise, we applaud him. However, we dealers should not be forced to foot the bill.
Wynn dealers have been fighting this new policy on several fronts: collective bargaining, lobbying elected officials, and arguing in the courts. We fear if Wynn Las Vegas is successful, the unjust policy will spread and affect all tip earners nationwide.
Here is a recent quote from a news article addressing the potential widespread effects: ----
The [Wall Street] Journal reported, "A big question in the casino industry is whether rivals will adopt Mr. Wynn's move. A spokesman for Harrah's Entertainment Inc., the world's largest casino operator by revenue, said, 'We don't have any plans to change our system, but we will look at what happens there.' "
