Dear Nevada Representative,
I am a table games dealer at Wynn Las Vegas. Like any dealer, I rely on tips as over 80% of my income. I understand that changes are being considered to Sec.10. NAC Chapter 608 to include supervisory employees into the tip pool.
I urge you to reject the proposed amendments to Sec.10. NAC Chapter 608 which are included in the minimum wage law that will come into effect this year. These can be found on page 6, item #3. As you review the amendments, it is obvious that they would be economically devastating to not only any dealer, but any tip earner because of management's addition to the tip pool.
I implore that you not let this happen. It would cripple me financially.
I do agree that management should raise supervisors' salaries, but not at my expense. Management should use its own profits.
Management pays tip earners minimum wage, sometimes less. The trade-off for this low hourly wage is the tip. The customer shows appreciation for exceptional service in the form of a tip. It is the customer's intention to thank me, the dealer, not the supervisor.
Supervisors are paid salary. The supervisor's job is to ensure that game operates smoothly and fairly. Most importantly, it is the supervisor's job to make sure the business aspect (i.e., the profit-making component) runs most smoothly.
Please consider the catastrophic financial consequences that will result if the proposed amendments to Sec.10. NAC Chapter 608 is accepted. I write to you on behalf of all hard-working tip-earning employees in Nevada.
Thank you for your time and your consideration.
